We're Kitty and Mat Assenmacher. We started American Hero Properties in 2021 because we'd watched too many homeowners get squeezed by cash buyers who treated a stressful moment like a sales opportunity. Mat is a Coast Guard veteran and a career firefighter, still on the line today. Kitty is a licensed Florida real estate agent and runs the day-to-day. We're based in Pinellas County and we buy houses across Florida.

Why We Started American Hero Properties
We didn't grow up in Florida. We chose it. Years ago, we moved here together, planted roots in Manatee County, and built a life. Real estate had always been in our blood. Mat had served in the Coast Guard and was working his way up as a career firefighter. Kitty had earned her Florida real estate license and was already helping people buy and sell homes the traditional way. We had a family, careers we believed in, and a community we'd chosen on purpose.
A Family Business, on Purpose
Kitty runs American Hero Properties full-time. She's the one who answers the phone, walks through your house, writes the offer, and sits with you at closing. Mat is still on the line as a career firefighter, and he's involved on the business side, the strategy, the renovations, the long-term decisions. Between the two of us, we're raising our kids, serving our community, and running this business by hand.

Kitty has been in real estate for 5+ years, and she runs American Hero Properties full-time. When you call the number on this website, you're talking to her. When someone walks through your house to write you an offer, that's her too. When you sit down at the closing table, she'll be there.
She got her license because she wanted to help people make good decisions about the biggest asset they own. She co-founded American Hero Properties because she watched too many homeowners get treated like leads instead of like people, and she knew there was a better way to do this work.
Kitty is a wife, a mother, and the person who built this business one conversation at a time. She'd rather walk away from a deal than push someone into the wrong decision. That's not a marketing line. That's how she operates.

Mat served in the United States Coast Guard before transitioning to the fire service, where he's spent his career as a full-time firefighter. He's still on the line today, working the same shifts and showing up for the same community we live in.
When Mat isn't at the firehouse, he's working on the business side of American Hero Properties — strategy, renovations, and the long-term decisions that keep the company grounded in what we set out to do. His service background shaped how we run things here. You don't pressure people in the middle of a hard moment. You show up, do the work, and let your reputation speak for itself.
